Q)  Is there a cost involved when receiving counselling?
A)  Our fees are on a sliding scale from $60 per hour down to an affordable donation.  We charge for counselling based on your financial situation. 
No one will be denied access to our service for financial reasons.

Q)  Is there a cost involved for the Outpatient Treatment Programme
and STEP Programme?
A)  Yes.  The cost is $125.00.  This is a subsidized amount.

Q)  What steps do I take if I want to do the Outpatient Treatment Programme?
A)  If you are interested in our programme, you need to contact our reception office and make an appointment to see a counsellor. 
They will discuss the options and details with you.

Q)  What is a dry-drunk?
A)  A dry-drunk is someone who has stopped drinking but who still demonstrates the same alcoholic behaviours and attitudes.

Q)  How can I help fundraise for Familial Trust?
A)  You could join our fundraising team.  We love to hear fresh ideas and welcome any support possible.  Alternatively, you can be a donor of goods or cash.

Q)  Is there an age limit for receiving your services?
A)  No.  We cater for all ages.  Even children and young people are affected by addiction.

Q) What is the Alcohol and Drug act?
A) The ADA Act provides for the compulsory detention and treatment of alcoholics and drug addicts at certified institutions, and is administered by the Ministry of Health.  It also provides legal definitions of 'alcoholic' and 'drug addict'. Detention under the Act can be either voluntary (applied for by the person requiring treatment) or involuntary (applied for by the person's relatives, a police officer or 'any other reputable person').
Detention orders are made by District Court judges and can last up to two years.  Most people are seldom detained for more than four months, and are often eligible for leave after six to eight weeks of treatment (based on satisfactory progress).
In practice, the Act is used infrequently, mainly for people with chronic alcohol dependence.  If you have a loved one and are considering using the ADA act for their safety we at the Familial Trust are more than happy to discuss your options and what is involved.
